ou don't have to blow your entire budget on a bathroom renovation.
You can do a lot to boost the look and mood just by doing your bathroom decorating with simple accessories
and light touches that bring in color and texture without making any permanent changes.
Begin by getting rid of the clutter. Clear off the countertops and sweep out the medicine cabinets dumping everything you no longer
need. Spend a little on organizers for the bathroom drawers and storage cabinets to help keep the clutter down and
make things easy to find.
Once you've freed up someadditional
storage you'll be able to keep the counter-tops clear so that
any accessories you use have a chance to show themselves.
Here are several ways you can use accessory items to punch up the beauty and style of your bathroom decorating:
Use small towel racks or rings to keep hand towels
handy near the sink area. Make use of larger tacks and bars near the shower or bath. You'll find a nice array of
choices and styles in your local department or home stores.
Try using a throw rug on the floor to add some color and personality to the room. try matching the you
towels and rug colors.
Add decorative
hooks to the back of the door and at other convenient locations.
Hooks offer a convenient place to hang robes, clothes and towels and when not in use add a sense of style and
convenience.
If you're getting tired of the wall colors don't be afraid to bring in new color
with wallpaper, borders, or a fresh coat of
paint. It's amazing what a new color, even on just one wall, will do
to spice up a room. Consider replacing the handles and
knobs on cabinets and drawers to give them a new look. You can
also change the way they look with new paint or stain.
A simple faucet
replacement can do wonders for the room. Try a swivel faucet for
convenience.
Shower curtains, soap dishes,
tooth brush holders and waste baskets are all candidates for
replacement. For a real touch of luxury try a curved shower curtain rod -- it gives you so much more room in the
shower and no more drifting shower curtain.
If you can swap out your mirror without too much trouble, try switching
from a rectangular to an oval shape, or a full wall mirror.
Finally, don't forget the flowers
and aromatic
candles. They'll bring in warmth and a sense of
calm.
Remember that a bathroom is a place of moisture and humidity. Be sure that any
thing you use for decoration can handle the extra
moisture. This includes paint and wallpaper.
Use some or all of these basic ideas, and your bathroom decorating will give you a
wonderful new look -- one that you can enjoy until the next time you need to change.
